I’m type A.
I have an engineering degree.
I’m also an introvert.
All of these things contribute to the ways in which I overanalyze EVERYTHING. (And I do mean everything!) Why make a decision in 5 minutes when you can take 5 weeks?
My desire to look at a problem from EVERY POSSIBLE ANGLE often leads to decision paralysis. Because I know I suffer from the tendency to overthink things, I was excited to read Anne Bogel’s Don’t Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, & Bring More Joy to Your Life.
There is SO much I appreciated about Don’t Overthink It.
First, Anne’s a great writer. Her books are always enjoyable to read and this one was no different.
Second, Anne lays out the problems of overthinking clearly, but then offers great tips for how NOT to overthink. She writes in a way that’s practical and highly relatable (even sharing stories from her own life).
Third, unlike so many “self-help” books, Don’t Overthink It doesn’t leave you feeling beaten up or ashamed. Instead, it leaves you feeling motivated (and able!) to actually make decisions better and more effectively.
One final note: While Don’t Overthink It will certainly appeal to Christians, don’t let the fact that it’s published by Baker Books scare you off if you’re not a Christian. There’s nothing overtly religious in this book.

I was honored to receive a copy of Don't Overthink It from Baker Books and chose to review the book. All opinions are my own.
